Chain Link Pattern

Yarn: Vintage Wool by Berroco
Needles: US 8, 5 mm
Gauge: 26 sts and 28 rows to 10 cm/4 inches
Pattern: Chain Link Pattern
Stitch Count Repeat: Multiple of 7sts
Book: Charted Knitting Design: A Third Treasury of Knitting Patterns
Page: 144

Difficult Techniques: Cables
Comments: To create a truly square swatch, I would recommend decreasing stitches in the plain reverse stockinette before and after this pattern. The cabled portions pull the pattern in so that any portions of the swatch not cabled will ripple or buckle, even in a blockable fiber like wool.

Thanks much for the decreasing suggestion in order to make a square swatch.

First thing I thought of when I saw this was that it reminded me of linked female symbols, would make a nice border for a feminist shawl or scarf.
