Gauge: 20sts X 18 rows over 4 inches X 4 inches (10 cm X 10 cm) in pattern

This is another relatively easy stitch with instructions that looks more intimidating than it actually is. The main thing to remember which wrap is the first and which is the second, but they do appear different when you look at them. The fabric is very “smooshy” though not too dense and resembles sideways brioche. The edges are sightly different from each other. This may be something to consider. The stitch is fully reversible in one color. Adding color or stripes affects the reversibility dramatically. (See stripes below.)

Additional note: In a finer yarn on larger needles this stitch would probably make a really nice lacy effect that looks more complex than it is.

    thanks so much for showing the two-color version. Someday when I have the time, I think I’d like to try a lot of the knit/purl patterns in two colors (like the vandyke check above, I was wondering what different kinds of intarsia would look like in that pattern….
