    Lisa, no, not at all. The stitch does compress vertically by about half, but knitting itself is totally brainless. The swatch you see above, for which I used worsted-weight yarn, took no more than half an hour to finish.

    I recently did this stitch in 3 different colors. It is very lovely, almost like little rosebuds. Very easy to knit, but be sure to keep your tension even with the slip stitches.
