Dainty Chevron

Dainty Chevron

Yarn: Tahki Cotton Classic
Needles: Size 5 US (3.75 mm)
Gauge: 17 sts = 4 inches
Pattern: Dainty Chevron
Stitch Count Repeat: Multiple of 8 sts
Book: A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns
Page: 275
Comments: This pattern should not be blocked too severly as it stretches out and flattens the chevrons. The picture in the book shows the chevrons slightly bunched up, and I think it looks better. The pattern forms a gently scalloped cast on edge.

English Rose Tweed

English Rose Tweed

Yarn: Cascade 220
Wraps Per Inch: 9
Needles: 4.5 mm (size 7 US)
Gauge: 4.5 spi
Pattern: English Rose Tweed
Stitch Count Repeat: Even number of stitches
Book: A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns
Page: 107
Comments, if any: Very easy and fun to work. As Walker points out, be careful not to cast on too many stitches as the pattern “spreads out.” The reverse is interesting, as well, so this would be a good pattern for something where the inside or reverse side is also visible. (Please see WS photo below.)

Comments, if any: The dip stitches were easy and fun to do.  The yarn that is carried in back must be kept loose or the pattern will pull in.

Peri’s Parasol

Peri's Parasol

Yarn: Cascade 220 colorway 2437
Wraps Per Inch: 9
Needles: 4.5 mm (size 7 US)
Gauge:  5 spi overall–stitch count varies from row to row
Pattern: Peri’s Parasol
Stitch Count Repeat:  22
Book: A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns
Page: 294

Comments, if any: Stitch count increases to row 12, then original count is restored in row 13.   I included the top and bottom borders because of the wavy pattern at top and the nice scalloped bottom edge.
