Yarn: Cascade Fixation
Wraps Per Inch: 11-12 wpi
Needles: US #4
Gauge: (relaxed)16 sts X 22 rows over 4 inches X 4 inches (10 cm X 10 cm) in pattern. Will vary greatly depending on blocking.
Pattern: Double Faggoting
Stitch Count Repeat: Multiple of 4 plus 1.
Book: Charted Designs: A Third Treasury of Knitting
Chapter: Uncharted Miscellany
Page: 251
Notes: A reversible stitch. Knit in a fine yarn on large needles it’s lacier, but still has an accordion-like effect (see pics 3 & 4). However, as Walker notes, in a dk-worsted weight like Fixation and knit on small needles, it has the elasticity of regular ribbing. It has to be stretched or blocked to see the lacy effect. Relaxed, it is very compact and dense. See second pic.

I never would have used this stitch, based on the photos in the book, but you’ve shown me how very pretty it can be. I’ll certainly consider using it now.
