Comments: The official gauge for this yarn is 19st and 25 rows to 4″/10cm, as compared to my gauge in stockinette of approx 24 st and 34 rows to 4″/10cm.. I used a smaller needle size to obtain a firmer fabric. 2 repeats measured 100mm wide and 200mm high. This excludes the cable cross which I included for balance after the second repeat.

this is hard to see in such a dark color

Some monitors do show this up as quite dark. but I didn’t find this out until after I’d checked it on four pcs/macs where it looked fine!

Monitors do make for a subjective viewing experience, but with the clever lighting in the photograph one would be hard-pressed to say it’s dark enough to obscure the pattern. If you mean you can tell it’s a really dark yarn, then I would agree, but since the stitch pattern is HARDLY obscured, I think it just lends visual interest. If you are having trouble viewing the swatch you may want to adjust your monitor’s contrast and brightness settings as Windows computers tend to display colors slightly darker–especially if you’ve never played with the monitor options (I am running Windows but I compensate for it in my monitor settings).
