Nice – that’s one I have to remember!

I’m quite smitten with it, because it’s so unbelievably easy, an easy pattern to “read” while you’re doing it, and just a great stitch for collars and ribs when you don’t want them to pull in too much. I’m thinking of working a horizontal jacket in this stuff some day. The fabric would be really warm.

it’s funny, seeing this one upside down like this it looks just like crochet :P

Yipes! Great catch. It’s right-side up now.
But turn it on its side, and you’re right, it looks a lot like single crochet rib. Except, of course, much more stretchy, much thinner, much less yarn.

This swatch shows that it is more attractive than it looks in the book. Misti Alpaca has a free scarf pattern that uses this stitch (pattern instruction calls the stitch Eve’s Rib) which I am making in rose. I am a newish knitter and it really is easy to knit this stitch — good for knitting while TV watching. I think I need a green one!

I’m working on a scarf in this stitch right now (double strand of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino). There is a small errata in the pattern.
For row 2, it says “end sl 1, k1″ and should read “end sl1 wyif, k1″
Lovely pattern, lovely project blog!
